For the acronym, see AFT. Aft, in naval terminology, is an adverb meaning 'towards the stern of the ship', when the frame of reference is within the ship. Example: "Able Seaman Smith; lay aft!". Or; "What's happening aft?" Its antonym is forward, pronounced "forrard".The corresponding adjective, in distinguishing one feature of the vessel from another is after. See the caption to the right. Automatyczna regulacja częstotliwości, ARCz (AFC, ang. Automatic frequency control) – metoda (lub urządzenie) służąca do automatycznego dostrajania odbiornika do odbieranej fali elektromagnetycznej (technika radiowa lub mikrofalowa).AFC działa zwykle w oparciu o sprzężenie zwrotne. Gdy odbiornik nie jest dokładnie dostrojony do odbieranej częstotliwości, układ elektroniczny AFC wytwarza sygnał zmieniający częstotliwość rezonansową obwodów wejściowych zmniejszający stopień niedostrojenia odbiornika. W przypadku niektórych układów jest możliwe całkowite zredukowanie błędu strojenia. Detektory FM dekodujące częstotliwość z zasady swego działania, dostarczają składową stałą dekodowanego sygnału jako błąd dostrojenia do układu AFC.
