It was originally designed by Will Crowther, a programmer and keen caver, who based the layout on part of the Mammoth Cave system in Kentucky. The Colossal Cave subnetwork has many entrances, one of which is known as Bedquilt. Crowther reproduced portions of the real cave so faithfully that cavers who have played the game can easily navigate through familiar sections in the Bedquilt region on their first visit.

Adwent (łac. adventus - przyjście) - w kościołach chrześcijańskich okres w roku liturgicznym przypominający oczekiwanie na powtórne przyjście Jezusa Chrystusa. Jednocześnie jest to czas poprzedzający pamiątkę pierwszego przyjścia - wcielenia, znanego pod nazwą narodzin Chrystusa.Na adwent składają się cztery niedziele adwentowe. W okresie adwentu kapłan zakłada do Mszy świętej ornat w kolorze fioletowym, symbolizującym czas pokuty i przygotowania się do jednego z najważniejszych świąt katolickich, czas pojednania z Bogiem i ludźmi. Adwent to także czas, w którym katolicy mają uświadomić sobie, że oczekują na powtórne przyjście Jezusa Chrystusa. Tradycją w Polsce są odprawiane w tym okresie o świcie Msze Święte, zwane roratami. Są to msze ku czci Najświętszej Maryi Panny, na pamiątkę tego, że przyjęła nowinę archanioła Gabriela, zwiastującego, iż zostanie Matką Syna Bożego. W pierwszą niedzielę adwentu - w Kościele katolickim - rozpoczyna się rok liturgiczny.
