ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship

The ADCC (Abu Dhabi Combat Club) Submission Wrestling World Championship was created by Sheik Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nayan, son of Sheik Zayed, former president of the United Arab Emirates, on suggestion of Renzo and Royler Gracie. In addition, the championships were started after Sheik Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nayan was impressed with the grappling Matt Hume taught his fighters. This grappling tournament is widely considered to be the peak tournament in the submission grappling world. Significant prize money is awarded to winners, and athletes who have been successful at the highest levels of competition in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling, Judo, Sambo and mixed martial arts regularly participate.

L'ADCC ou Abu Dhabi Combat Club est un club de jiu-jitsu brésilien qui se trouve a Abou Dabi, la capitale des Émirats arabes unis. Ce club est né grâce à un émigré parti étudier aux États-Unis et qui est tombé amoureux de l'Ultimate Fighting Championship, il a commencé a étudier le jiu-jitsu brésilien avec le professeur Nelson Monterio Jr. dans son academy de San Diego et après avoir fini ses études il l'a convaincu de venir à Abou Dabi et d'ouvrir un club. En plus du jiu-jitsu brésilien, ils font également du cross training en boxe, kickboxing, judo, lutte.

Der ADCC (Abu Dhabi Combat Club) Submission Wrestling World Championship wurde mit der Unterstützung der Scheichs Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahayan (ADCC Präsident) und Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nayan, Sohn des ehemaligen Präsidenten der Vereinigten Arabischen Emirate Zayid bin Sultan Al Nahyan, gegründet. Seit 1998 veranstaltet der ADCC die Submission Wrestling Weltmeisterschaften, bis 2001 fanden sie jährlich in Abu Dhabi statt. Dann änderte die Veranstaltung auf einen Zweijahresrhytmus und der Austagungsort wurde nach Brasilien (2003) und USA (2005 & 2007) verlegt.
