ABDOM

The abdomen is the part of the body that lies between the chest and the thigh and encloses the ureters, intestines, liver, anus, bladder, gallbladder, and reproductive system outside the breast. It is also called the belly or venter. In humans, and in many other vertebrates, it is the region between the thorax and the pelvis (Separating the thoracic cavity and the abdominal cavity is the thoracic diaphragm). In fully developed insects, the abdomen is the third (or posterior) segment, after the head and thorax.

Odwłok (abdomen, urosoma) - trzecia, tylna część ciała stawonoga, połączona z tułowiem lub głowotułowiem. Odwłok pokryty jest oskórkiem, ale znacznie delikatniejszym niż okrywy głowy czy głowotułowia. Na odwłoku mogą występować odnóża kroczne; u form bardziej wyspecjalizowanych są one często przekształcone w kądziołki przędne (pająki) czy najrozmaitsze narządy kopulacyjne.

Buken kallas för abdomen inom anatomin. Den är lokaliserad i nedre magregionen och omfattar i huvudsak nedre delen av tarmarna och mesodermet samt för kvinnor även livmodern och äggstockarna. Buken är ett känsligt område och skyddas därför av bäckenbenet.
