Year 532 (DXXXII) was a leap year starting on Thursday (link will display the full calendar) of the Julian calendar. At the time, it was known as the Second year after the Consulship of Lampadius and Probus (or, less frequently, year 1285 Ab urbe condita). The denomination 532 for this year has been used since the early medieval period, when the Anno Domini calendar era became the prevalent method in Europe for naming years.

- Januar: Nika-Aufstand in Konstantinopel: Die Zirkusparteien erheben sich gegen den oströmischen Kaiser Justinian I. und planen, den Heerführer Hypatios (einen Neffen des Anastasios I.) zum neuen Kaiser zu ernennen. Die Heerführer Belisar und Narses werden mit der Niederwerfung der Aufständischen beauftragt; dabei kommen über 30.000 Menschen ums Leben, auch Hypatios und sein Bruder werden hingerichtet; die während der fünftägigen Unruhen zerstörte Hagia Sophia wird in der Folgezeit völlig neu errichtet (letzter bedeutender Monumentalbau der Antike).
- Chlothar I. und Childebert I., Könige der Franken, greifen das Burgunderreich an; sein König Godomar wird in der Schlacht von Autun vernichtend geschlagen, Burgund fällt den Franken zu.
