4 Plugs is the seventh album by The Mad Capsule Markets. The album has been known as one of the band's more aggressive and heavier albums, as it was a departure from the original melodic Japanese rock and punk sound to a more metal and rap-based style, and the debut of Takeshi's experimentation of playing bass guitar with effects and downtuning. Most fans welcomed this newer sound and style, and the band attracted a new fanbase, but some fans of the original more experimental sound felt let down by the newer nu metal sound.

4 Plugs è il settimo album dei The Mad Capsule Markets, ed è conosciuto come uno dei lavori più pesanti e aggressivi del gruppo, introducendo sonorità metal e rap, tipicamente legate al nu metal. In 4 Plugs vede l'esordio di Takeshi Ueda sia come compositore e sia come sperimentatore di nuovi suoni ed effetti mediante il suo basso, tuttavia questo cambio di rotta non darà spazio ad Ai Ishigaki, che nello stesso anno lascierà il gruppo. Quest'album contiene molte canzoni scritte totalmente in inglese come Walk! e Don't Suss Me Out.
