3GPP

The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) is a collaboration between groups of telecommunications associations, to make a globally applicable third generation (3G) mobile phone system specification within the scope of the International Mobile Telecommunications-2000 project of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). 3GPP specifications are based on evolved Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) specifications. 3GPP standardization encompasses Radio, Core Network and Service architecture.

3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) - wspólny projekt kilku organizacji standaryzacyjnych mający na celu rozwój systemów telefonii komórkowej trzeciej generacji 3G. 3GPP opracował m.in. standard interfejsu radiowego dla systemu UMTS działajacego w oparciu o wielodostęp do zasobów radiowych ze zwielokrotnieniem w dziedzinie kodu czyli tzw. WCDMA.Organizacje uczestniczące w projekcie: ARIB, CWTS, ETSI, T1, TTA, TTC.

Il Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) è un accordo di collaborazione, formalizzato nel dicembre 1998, fra enti che si occupano di standardizzare sistemi di telecomunicazione in diverse parti del mondo.In questo momento fanno parte del 3GPP RIB, CCSA, ETSI, ATIS, TTA e TTC. L'obiettivo originale del 3GPP era di produrre specifiche tecniche per un sistema mobile di terza generazione basato sulla Core Network GSM e sulla tecnologia di accesso radio Universal Terrestrial Radio Access (UTRA).
