The Books of Chronicles (Hebrew Divrei Hayyamim, Greek Paraleipomêna) are part of the Hebrew Bible (Jewish Tanakh and Christian Old Testament). In the masoretic text, it appears as the first or last book of the Ketuvim (the latter arrangement also making it the final book of the Jewish bible). Chronicles largely parallels the Davidic narratives in the books of Samuel and the Books of Kings. For this reason it was called "Supplements" in the Septuagint, where it appears in two parts (I & II Chronicles), immediately following 1 & 2 Samuel and 1 & 2 Kings as a supplement to them. The division of Chronicles and its place in the Christian canon of the Old Testament are based upon the Septuagint.

Das 1. Buch der Chronik ist ein Buch der hebräischen Bibel. Seit dem christlichen Mittelalter wird es im so genannten Alten Testament in 29 Kapitel unterteilt. In den Ostkirchen heißt es 1. Buch der Auslassungen (griech. Paralipomenon), weil es viele in den Samuel- und Königsbüchern fehlende Details enthält.

Pierwsza Księga Kronik to jedna z ksiąg Starego Testamentu, powstała aby zdopingować żydowskich repatriantów, którzy powrócili z niewoli babilońskiej. Początkowo obie księgi 1 i 2 Kronik stanowiły prawdopodobnie jeden zwój, który później dla wygody podzielono. Żydzi nazywali je Diwré Hajjamím, co dosłownie znaczy sprawy dni, a więc kroniki dni lub czasów. Dzisiejszą nazwę księga ta prawdopodobnie zawdzięcza Hieronimowi, który opracowując łacińską Wulgatę zaproponował nazwę Chronikón całych Boskich dziejów.

De boeken 1 en 2 Kronieken (Hebreeuws: דברי הימים) zijn boeken in het Oude Testament en in de Tenach. Er zijn 2 boeken, nu bekend als 1 Kronieken en 2 Kronieken, maar oorspronkelijk vormden zij 1 boek. In de Hebreeuwse indeling vallen de boeken onder de khethubim of hagiographa.
