1999 World Championships in Athletics

The 7th World Championships in Athletics, under the auspices of the International Association of Athletics Federations, were held at the Estadio Olímpico, Seville, Spain, between the August 20 and August 29.One of the main highlights of the games was the World Record set in the 400 metre sprint by the outstanding Michael Johnson of the United States of America in a time of 43.18 seconds.

Die 7. Leichtathletik-Weltmeisterschaft fand vom 20. bis 29. August 1999 in der spanischen Stadt Sevilla statt. Die Wettkämpfe wurden im Olympiastadion ausgetragen. Es nahmen 1944 Athleten aus 203 Ländern teil. Höhepunkte waren zwei Weltrekorde: Der Amerikaner Michael Johnson lief über 400 Meter eine Traumzeit von 43,18 Sekunden. Die Amerikanerin Stacy Dragila erreichte beim Stabhochsprung eine Höhe von 4,60 Meter. Es gab drei neue Wettbewerbe für Frauen: 20 km Gehen, Stabhochsprung und Hammerwerfen.

Mistrzostwa Świata w Lekkoatletyce 1999 zorganizowane przez IAAF rozgrywane były na Stadionie Olimpijskim w Sewilli (Hiszpania) między 20 a 29 sierpnia 1999.Jednym z najciekawszych momentów tych zawodów było pobicie rekordu świata w biegu na 400 m przez Michaela Johnsona (USA) w czasie 43.18 s.
