電子

電子（でんし、英electron）は宇宙を構成する素粒子のうちのレプトンの1つ。素粒子の標準模型では、第1世代の荷電レプトンとして位置づけられる。電子の電荷の大きさは電気素量に等しく符号はマイナス、スピンは±1/2、バリオン数は0で、質量は9.1093826×10−31キログラムである。他に弱アイソスピン、弱超電荷という性質を持つ。電子1つの電荷は1.60217653×10−19クーロンである。原子は、原子核と電子（核外電子）によって構成される。古典論的には電子は原子核の周りを惑星のように回っていると考えられていた。量子力学的には、電子はとびとびのエネルギー状態を取りながら通常、最もエネルギー準位の低いところから順に原子軌道を占有していく。核外電子のエネルギー準位と化学的な意味については記事 電子配置に詳しい。
