Épée
The épée is the modern derivative of the dueling sword, the smallsword (itself descended from the rapier, used in sport fencing). Épée is French for "sword".

Épée
L'épée (du latin spatha, « chose plate » ) est une arme blanche à double tranchant (se distingue ainsi du sabre) composée d'une lame droite en métal pourvue le cas échéant d'une gouttière (dépression longitudinale), d'une poignée et, dans certaines époques, d'une garde protégeant la main et d'un pommeau.

Épée (escrime)
L'épée est une des trois armes de l'escrime (avec le fleuret et le sabre). C’est une arme d’estoc. L'épée est une arme tous publics, car les actions pendant les assauts sont relativement lentes par rapport aux autres armes et parce qu'il n'y a pas de convention, ce qui permet au public de facilement suivre la phrase d'armes.

Szpada
Szpada - powstała w XVII wieku na zachodzie Europy w wyniku przekształcania rapiera (białej broni kłująco-siecznej). Szpada służyła do kłucia, dzięki czemu stała się lżejsza od rapiera.
Obecnie w sporcie, w szpadzie polem trafienia jest całe ciało - od maski aż po buty. Jest to sport, który charakteryzuje się niezwykłą szybkością oraz walecznością, w którym nie liczy się, kto rozpoczął natarcie, ale kto dobrze osadził koniec broni, powodując zapalenie się swojej lampy.
Trwają badania że jakoby szpada została wynaleziona o wiele wcześniej... Na potwierdzenie jednak tych informacji należy jeszcze zaczekać.
