Ürgüp
Ürgüp is a town and a district of
Nevşehir Province,
Turkey in the historical region of
Cappadocia. It is renowned for its nightlife and for its good adjustment to tourism, making it a popular night stop for
Cappadocia tourists.Ürgüp which was founded on the outskirts of the hill named as Hill of Wishes is located about 20 km north of the
Nevşehir province in one of the first settlement areas of Cappadocia region. In the Byzantine period it was called under various names such as Osiana, Hagios, Prokopios. During the
Seljuks period it was referred to as Başhisar and in the
Ottoman Empire period as Burgut Castle. Until the first years of the Turkish Republic it was called Ürgüp??.

Ürgüp
Ürgüp ist eine türkische Kleinstadt mit etwa 18.000 Einwohnern in der zentralanatolischen
Provinz Nevsehir.Die Stadt liegt etwa 20 Kilometer östlich der Provinzhauptstadt
Nevsehir und gut 60 Kilometer westlich der Stadt
Kayseri. Die türkische Hauptstadt
Ankara liegt 260 Kilometer weiter nordwestlich und die Touristenorte um die
Antalya,
Side und
Alanya befinden sich etwa 400-500 Kilometer südwestlich. Auf einer Höhe von etwa 1150 Metern über NN ist Ürgüp zentral in der Touristenregion
Kappadokien gelegen. Nahe der Stadt befinden sich zahlreiche Sehenswürdigkeiten wie z. B. die aus dem vulkanischen Gestein herausgewaschenen "Feenkamine" und andere beeindruckende geologische Formationen, sowie die byzantinischen Höhlenkirchen im Freilichtmuseum von
Göreme.

La ciudad de Ürgüp se encuentra en
Capadocia, una región de
Anatolia central, en
Turquía. Se encuentra 20 km al este de la ciudad de
Nevsehir.Ürgüp ha tenido varios nombres a lo largo de su historia: Osian, Hagios Prokopios (durante el
imperio Bizantino), Bashisar (durante el período selyúcida), Burgat Kaalesi (durante el
imperio otomano), y finalmente el nombre actual, que conserva desde poco después de la fundación de la República de Turquía. La ciudad posee moradas trogloditas junto a construcciones modernas, además de casas griegas construidas luego del intercambio poblacional de
1923. Es un centro de desarrollo de la industria turística en la región, ya que es usada muchas veces como base para la exploración del valle de
Göreme, el
caravansaray de Sarihan y los viñedos de Kizilçukur.
