Épistaxis

An epistaxis is the relatively common occurrence of hemorrhage (bleeding) from the nose, usually noticed when it drains out through the nostrils. There are two types: anterior (the most common), and posterior (less common, and more severe). Sometimes in more severe cases, the blood can come up the nasolacrimal duct and out from the eye. Fresh blood and clotted blood can also flow down into the stomach and cause nausea and vomiting. It only accounts for .001% of all deaths in the U.S.

Epistaxis (von gr. σταζω „tröpfeln“, ἐπισταξις „Darauftröpfeln“) ist das medizinische Fachwort für Nasenbluten. Nasenbluten ist zwar in den meisten Fällen nicht gefährlich, es kann jedoch auch lebensbedrohlich und kaum zu beherrschen sein. Gefährliche Blutungen stammen meist aus den hinteren Nasenabschnitten (Arteria ethmoidalis anterior).

Epistaxis) - związane jest z bogatym unaczynieniem nosa oraz faktem, że naczynia leżą na podłożu chrzęstnym lub kostnym, wobec czego naczynia krwionośne nie mają dostatecznego miejsca do rozszerzenia.Najczęstszym miejscem krwawienia jest tak zwane miejsce (splot) Kiesselbacha (łac. locus Kiesselbachii) lub inaczej trójkąt (pole) Little’a zlokalizowany na przedniej części przegrody nosa.
